With the steady increase of cybersecurity and physical threats to utility infrastructure in recent years, the need to highlight the various measures that need to be adopted to make cybersecurity a national security priority is at an all-time high. President Biden released a proclamation in 2023 noting that “as we implement historic legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the CHIPS and Science Act,” he is “committed to incorporating cybersecurity measures into everything we build and produce — from bridges and roads to computer chips and the electrical grid.”
Cyber threats affect our daily lives by undermining the energy infrastructure and other critical infrastructures that support today and future generations. This conference will visualize and continue discussions around frameworks that elevate utility cyber vulnerabilities and the necessity of reporting requirements for utilities of cyber incidents.
